THE SRI LANKA SURF EXPERIENCE

A rare surf experience full of tropical waves, wild beauty, and authentic moments.
The way surf travel was meant to be.

Arugam Bay, Sri Lanka

In the unspoiled Sri Lankan East Coast

Picture this: dawn light filtering through palm leaves, the sound of waves rolling gently onto sand.
A handful of boards line the beach, ready for a morning session guided by people who know this coastline deeply.

Now, picture what this isn't.

It's not twenty people being pushed into waves by a coach half your age. It's not recycled drills or cookie-cutter lessons.

It's not a "camp" that repeats the same week, every week, every year.

This is different.

We don't run camps - we craft experiences.

This trip is designed for a small group of adults who want something more:
surf progress, authentic experiences, and an unforgettable journey through Sri Lanka's culture, coastline, and community.

Not a surf camp. Not a retreat.

Something else entirely.

Apply now to join our curated 9 day surf experience in Arugam Bay, Sri Lanka

guided by Andrew's Coaching Framework, refined through 43 years of surfing, 17 years of professional coaching, and over 8,000 client transformations worldwide.

Surfing is just the beginning

Sri Lanka's East Coast. Unspoiled. Unhurried. Unforgettable.

Far from crowds and cookie-cutter camps, Arugam Bay remains one of the last truly authentic surf destinations of Sri Lanka.

Lush jungle, warm water, and a rhythm that still feels untouched. Elephants roaming on the streets while you go to surf.

On September 5-13, 2026, a small group of adult surfers will join us for 9 days of precision coaching, cultural immersion, and connection.

We don't repeat the same program every week.
Each retreat is crafted once, built around the people who join.

Every guest is known by name, every lesson designed specifically for their body, mindset, and goals.

AS FEATURED IN

8,000+ clients coached
One week equals six months of standard progress

A day in one of our Surf Trips

The way surf travel was meant to be.

Across the world, surf travel has become predictable.
Crowded lessons. Recycled programs. The same coaching model delivered week after week, regardless of who stands in the water.
Progress plateaus not because people lack talent, but because the method never adapts to them.

We built our coaching around the opposite idea: that precision and presence create transformation.

Andrew Goodman has surfed for over four decades and coached for seventeen years, guiding more than 8,000 clients worldwide.

His teaching has been featured in Surfer Magazine for redefining how adults learn, combining scientific clarity with intuitive observation.

Each guest receives guidance shaped by their physiology, mindset, and learning style.  No templates, no repetition, no noise.

Alongside him, Eleonora Fiorini curates every layer of the experience, from travel flow to fun, ensuring that guests feel both challenged and supported.

Guests from our surf experiences describe her coordination and cultural insight as “exceptional.”

Together, we’ve created an approach that feels different because it is different: attentive, intelligent, and deeply personal.

Where most instruction ends with information, ours begins with understanding.

Our Coaching Framework

and why our guests progress faster

Our system integrates five proprietary methods developed for adult learners who value precision, safety, and lasting progress.

1. The Wave Language Method™
Transforms ocean observation into a readable system. You'll know what the waves are doing, where to position, and why-so you stop guessing and start anticipating.

2. The Physics-First Coaching Method
Based on biomechanics and hydrodynamics, this approach teaches movement that conserves energy and accelerates retention.

3. The Body-Led Customization Method
Adapts your surf technique to your specific body, age, and mobility. No forced formulas-just movement that fits you.

4. The Video Analysis Feedback Loop
Daily recorded sessions reviewed in real time. Within five days, you'll see measurable improvements equivalent to three months of generic instruction.

5. The Beginner Surf License Approach
A structured framework for ocean literacy-so you leave knowing how to assess conditions, identify safe zones, and surf independently.

These five systems lock together like gears: body, physics, awareness, repetition, confidence.
They turn progress from chance into certainty.

The Experience

a journey through waves, local culture and connection

This isn’t a week spent in one place.

It’s a nine day journey through the heart and the waves of Sri Lanka.

From the inland hills of Wellawaya to the tropical waves of Arugam Bay, and finally the wild savannahs of Yala.

Each day layers surf progression, authentic local experiences, and adventure.

The Itinerary

September 05 - 13 , 2026

Day 01 - Arrival in Wellawaya: Slow Beginnings

Your journey begins far from the coast, in the fertile fields of Wellawaya.
After landing in Colombo, we’ll be waiting for you in the arrival hall with smiles and stoke.

Our local and very expert guide will welcome us and after a 3 hour drive in our private van we’ll arrive to a quiet eco-retreat surrounded by rice paddies.
The pace here is slow by design - an intentional pause before the surf.

In the evening, join a sustainable farm walk on the property, discovering how local communities live in harmony with the land.
After dinner, an optional guided night walk reveals the sounds and movement of Sri Lanka's nocturnal wildlife - fireflies, soft rustles, and the gentle hum of nature.

Overnight at Jetwing Kaduruketha.

Day 02 - Waterfall Morning, Coastal Arrival

After breakfast, the journey continues toward the coast, stopping first at Diyaluma Falls - one of the island's most stunning natural cascades.
Swim in the clear pools beneath the falls, surrounded by lush forest and mist.

By afternoon, the landscape opens, palms replace pines, and the scent of salt begins to rise.
Welcome to Arugam Bay - your surf base for the next four days.
After settling into our boutique hotel, you'll have your first surf session with Andrew - a gentle introduction to the rhythm of tropical waves and the foundation of our coaching week.

Overnight at Hideaway Heritage Hotel, Arugam Bay.

Days 03 to 06 - Surf Immersion and Island Flow

Each morning begins with a quiet ritual: warm light, a light breakfast, and the sound of the ocean just steps away.
Then it's time to paddle out.

Surf sessions are guided by Andrew, supported by another qualified coach and local insider guide who knows every hidden break and reef along this coastline.
We explore the off the beaten track point breaks that make Arugam Bay legendary - gentle enough for learning, dynamic enough for transformation.

After the surf, you'll review your footage in our video analysis workshops, translating what you see into what you feel.
These are the moments when technique becomes instinct.

Afternoons are yours to unwind or explore.
Join a private Sri Lankan cooking class led by local chefs, stretch into a yoga session, or indulge in a traditional Ayurveda treatment offered at our hotel.
Some afternoons, we simply rest - reviewing clips over fresh tropical fruit and the hum of cicadas.

Evenings unfold naturally.
Dinner might be grilled fish at a beach shack, laughter over coconut curries (our favourites!!), or quiet reflection at sunset with the group.
By midweek, connection feels effortless - a gathering of people who arrived as strangers and now share a rare sense of belonging.

That's what happens in our surf trips, you arrive as strangers and you leave with family.

Overnights at Hideaway Heritage Hotel, Arugam Bay.

Day 07 - One more Surf Session + Farewell to the Ocean, Journey South

After breakfast, you'll head out for your final surf session - one last ride to anchor the progress and independence you've built over the week.

Later that morning, we depart Arugam Bay for Tissamaharama, a peaceful village bordering Yala National Park.
This is the decompression phase - a beautiful closing chapter to your journey.
The evening is unhurried: rest, dine, reflect.

Overnight at Kithala Resort, Tissamaharama.

Day 08 - Safari Dawn

This morning begins before sunrise with a jeep safari through Yala National Park, home to elephants, leopards, and rare tropical birds.
It's a grounding experience - an encounter with the raw pulse of Sri Lanka's wilderness before returning to modern life.

We’ll then return to the hotel to freshen up before making our way back to the west coast.

After the wild quiet of Yala and the golden coastlines of Arugam Bay, the journey draws to a gentle close.
We return to Colombo for one final evening together - a last dinner shared, stories exchanged, and the kind of laughter that only happens when people have truly lived something remarkable side by side.

Day 09 - Goodbye, but not for long

Today we say our goodbyes.
Flights depart at different times, hugs are long, and promises to stay connected are real - because they always are.
What began as a surf experience has become a circle of friendship, one that continues well beyond Sri Lanka's shores.

For those who wish to linger a little longer, we offer an optional custom extension - a tailor made continuation designed around what you most crave: more surf, cultural immersion, or quiet recovery before reentering your routine.

Our time in Sri Lanka ends not with goodbye, but with expansion.
