THE MALDIVES SURF EXPERIENCE
A surf experience built around the belief that meaningful progress comes from learning how to think in the water, not just how to perform.
7 days of professional surf coaching inside one of the most complex surf environment in the world, for independent surfers seeking progress and uncrowded waves.
North and South Male Atolls, Maldives
September 20-27 , 2026
This experience is for independent surfers who feel ready to take the next step, and want to do so in an environment that is challenging yet appropriate, and carefully chosen to support progression without unnecessary intimidation.
Chasing the most uncrowded waves onboard of a 40mt yacht, in the North and South Male Atolls

This is not a guided surf safari.
And it’s not a luxury holiday with a few coaching tips sprinkled in.
This is professional surf coaching delivered in the Maldives. A place uniquely suited for surfers to explore what they’re capable of, push their limits, and do so under constant, expert supervision.
A defining feature of this experience is our signature coaching style:
live, in-the-water feedback delivered while you’re riding the wave.

A surf experience like no other
North and South Male' Atolls.
Warm waters, perfect tropical peelers.
The Maldives is one of the most visually striking surf environments in the world, and one of the most rewarding when surfed with understanding.
These are extraordinary waves, but also difficult waves to surf well, without knowledge.
This is where experience makes all the difference.
Andrew has lived and worked in the Maldives and has spent years surfing, coaching, and studying these breaks across all conditions.
That depth of local knowledge shapes every decision we make - from where we anchor, to when we move, to which waves are appropriate on any given day.
On September 20-27, 2026, a small group of independent adult surfers will join us for 8 days of precision surf coaching, lived entirely onboard a yacht, moving through the North and South Malé Atolls in search of uncrowded, beautiful waves.
There is no fixed program or itinerary. Each experience is built once, around the conditions that show up and the people on board, and a clear intention: to teach surfers how to think in the water, not just how to perform..

The waves we get to surf...

Many surf trips promise great waves.
But very few are designed as a true investment in your surfing.
What we hear again and again from surfers who've done trips elsewhere is this
they surfed beautiful waves, but went home with very little clarity.
No deeper understanding of timing and positioning.
No clearer sense of how to choose waves.
No tools they could carry back into their everyday surfing.
Often, the people meant to be coaching are surfing more than the guests.
And guiding replaces teaching.
And the week becomes a stack of surf sessions - not progression.
This experience exists to change that.
People don't book a Maldives trip with us.
They book Andrew-in-the-Maldives, a coaching-led environment built to teach you how to think in the water, read the ocean, and create lasting change in your surfing.

Our Coaching Method
and what makes this experience different
Our system integrates various proprietary methods developed for adult surfers who value precision, safety, and lasting progress.
The coaching happens at 2 levels: in the water, and outside of the water
1. In the water, in real time.
Andrew positions himself on the inside, in the impact zone, watching you surf as you ride toward him - not from behind, not from the lineup, and not later on video alone.
This allows for:
-
Immediate, wave-by-wave feedback
-
Clear guidance on positioning, timing, and decision-making
-
Coaching that happens while it matters, not after the moment has passed
Alongside Andrew:
-
Justin is in the lineup, focused on safety, positioning, and support
-
Kabo, our local Maldivian surf guide, puts you on the best waves for your level
-
A photographer and boat crew provide additional eyes and oversight
The result is an environment where you can push yourself, knowing you are seen and supported at every moment.
2. Out of the water, during the video analysis sessions
Alongside the live, in-the-water coaching, we run video analysis sessions that deepen and consolidate what happens in the surf.
Seeing your surfing on screen creates clarity that words alone never can.
Andrew breaks down what you're doing, why it's working (or not), and how small adjustments change everything, linking feeling in the water to visible reality.
These sessions are calm, precise, and personal - often becoming the moment where things truly click.
They connect what you felt in the water with what actually happened, turning feelings into understanding.
Combined with live, in-the-moment feedback in the water, video analysis completes the learning loop:
experience in the water, clear understanding, and integration that carries forward long after the trip ends.
The Experience
a journey shaped by waves, knowledge, and presence
This isn’t a week spent in one place.
It’s a eight-day passage through the North and South Malé Atolls, living at sea and moving with the ocean.
Each day unfolds aboard the yacht, waking up to new anchorages, different reefs, and waves that ask different questions of you as a surfer.
There is no fixed itinerary.
We move when it makes sense.
We stay when conditions are right.
The rhythm of the trip is set by tides, swell, and wind, not by a fixed program.
Surf sessions are layered with recovery, connection, and adventures: snorkelling, visiting local islands, sharing meals on deck, and watching the light change over the water.
It's an experience through the real Maldives, full of waves and adventures.

How the week unfolds
September 20 - 27 , 2026

Arrival & First Taste of the Maldives
We personally come to pick you up at Malé International Airport and bring you straight onto our dhoni - the surf boat that will carry us throughout the week.
From there, we head to the yacht for check-in, settle into cabins, and set sail. All of this before lunch.
We often squeeze in a first surf session on the day of arrival - usually at one of the nearby breaks - giving you an immediate feel for the waves, the water, and the rhythm of the trip.
This is why we recommend arriving rested, ideally the day before.
The adventure begins quickly.
Surf Sessions, Exploring Different Breaks
Most days begin early.
Depending on tides and swell, we either surf at first light or shortly after breakfast. Sometimes both.
Andrew does a pre-sunrise surf check, often heading out by boat to read the conditions in person before confirming the plan.
We surf alot! Often twice a day. Surf once, surf twice, all up to you.
Sessions are as long as you want them to be - we have a third boat that travel with with us, a Dhinghy, that sits near the lineup and comes pick you up if you want to come back on the Dhoni to take a break.
You surf when you're feeling good, and step out when you need to. The dhoni and dinghy are always nearby, ready to bring you back onboard.

Afternoons: Recovery & Adventure
After the surf sessions and lunch, afternoons are dedicated to recovery and exploration.
This is where the trip breathes.
Some afternoons are pure relaxation - resting on deck, reading in the shade, letting the body recover between sessions.
Others open into exploration: snorkelling over coral reefs, swimming in a warm lagoon, or stepping onto a local island for a glimpse into everyday Maldivian life.
This is also when the body gets looked after. Gentle movement sessions, stretching, and optional physio treatments and massages help keep fatigue in check and surfing sharp across the week.
Nothing is mandatory.
You choose how you spend your days - knowing that recovery, adventure, and stillness are just as much part of progression as time in the water.
Evenings: Review, Relax & Wind-Down
As the sun drops, the yacht anchors in a calm lagoon for the night.
On select evenings, we gather for video analysis sessions - reviewing footage from the day, and connecting what you felt in the water with what actually happened.
Dinner is relaxed and early.
Nights are quiet.
The boat gently rocks you to sleep.

The Flow of the week
From day one onward, nothing is rigid.
Andrew, the captain, and our local guide Kabo plan the schedule often half a day at a time - using swell charts, real-time observation, and the Nakaiy calendar, an ancient Maldivian system still used by local fishermen to read weather patterns.
Our local guide is in constant communication with other boats and guides in the area, coordinating timing and locations so that lineups stay as organised as possible and we avoid multiple yachts converging on the same break at the same time.
We move strategically between breaks and atolls, often navigating during non-surf windows so that time in transit never comes at the cost of time in the water.
To you, it may feel effortless.
Behind the scenes, every move is considered.
Beyond the Trip: What You Take Home From the Maldives
For many guests, the biggest shift happens after the trip ends.
They leave with a new understanding of what professional coaching actually feels like - the difference between being guided and being truly seen, studied, and supported.
Many realize for the first time that surf coaching can be this precise and personal, even within a group, shaped around their strengths and blind spots.
They also leave with something harder to name.
Confidence, yes - in the water and beyond it.
For some, this was the first time travelling so far from home, the first time saying yes to something that felt intimidating but deeply exciting. In a safe, encouraging environment, they discover they can push themselves - not through pressure, but through trust.
There's the surfing, too. Long, open waves that run for enough time that you can really.
There's the surfing, too. Long, open waves that run for enough time that you can really be in the moment, that allow you to think about where you are and what you're doing.
Waves people only ever see in magazines or films - suddenly real, suddenly under your feet.
Our guests often tell us it's the first time they experienced what it means to think while surfing.
